W is for WINGS
Please note that the videos embedded with the songs were posted by some great Parrotheads on YouTube and not my creation.
From the relatively recent Hotel Buffett CD (2009), we have a philosophical song written by Jimmy Buffett and Will Kimbrough called "Wings".
We all know that Jimmy loves to fly in his airplanes and he also loves the idea of "treetop flying" which is mentioned in this song. I think that they are telling everyone to take a fresh look at life or look at it from a different point of view and you might fly on "wings that you can't see".
I'm also very fond of the line "I don't need no runway, I got fuel here in my bong, I can buzz at treetop flyer level all day long". Also near the end of the song where they say "You can try to fly away from all your problems, well, I'm here to say that ain't the way to solve them".
Jimmy once again give us things to think about.

I think you may be creating some new Buffet fans! Not this one, I've loved him for many years, but never let it be said that his songs are 'light' most of them have a very deep and inspiration meaning. It's 5 o'clock somewhere! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to cheese burgers and paradise.

Loved the song - why didn't I find your blog sooner on my trawl through the uncharted, pirate-infested waters of the A-Z challenge? Thanks for the musical treat.
